DIV overlay codes, such as the ones at the link you provided, are made for the average joe's MySpace, not artists. You would need to find somebody who knows the layout of the Artist page.

just to the right hand side of your pic, on the page that pops up when you sign in to myspace, there should be options to edit profile, pics, etc. hope it works out ok for you!

It's really messed up b/c I click edit profile %26amp; it is fine, but when I try to actually look @ my profile, sure, the layout is there, my blogs, about me, who I'd like to meet, friends, %26amp; comments. But @ first glance there is nothing there! I think it sometimes takes a few days to update it. Also, I've noticed on my own account, that I cannot see the buttons for "send email", "view photos" etc. etc., from my work computer, but I can at home. At work I use IE7, and home I think I use IE6 or IE5; it could have something to do with that.

I have started making my own layouts, and now I want to put them on my myspace profile to share the layouts with others. I have no idea how to do any of this. I know that I have to put it in a blog, and someone gave me a code to put the layout codes in a scroll box. But everytime I put it in the blog it will not post. I am working on a laptop where the "prt sc" button doesn't seem to work. Someone PLease help me. I am so lost and have no idea what I am doing.......

It's hard to troubleshoot things like that when I do not have access to your layout code. I don't know if a DIV is covering it, or what code is actually being used to hide the friends. Doesn't make your question very easy to answer. Report It

Hey, well, this could happen depending on a lot of reasons. It could be your computer (maybe the graphics are too complicated and their file sizes are too large, so your computer is unable to load it for view). Sometimes, it can just be stubborn, so try to view it again after a few days or so. Also, the layout code could be wrong; a graphic on there could have been hosted somewhere that does not host it anymore, or the overall coding could just not be functionable at all. To avoid this problem, try getting a new layout or simpler ones, and try to use ones from larger websites, such as PimpMyProfile or another site with numerous layouts. And don't forget to make sure that you copied and pasted the code right! I do that sometimes. ^^"

I just opened a layout page on myspace for layouts. i know how to make the layouts and all that html stuff but how can i let people preview the layout before they use it? how do you take a 'picutre' of your page as ive seen some people do? if i wanted to do a real review where its on a real profile, do i need to make an account for every single layout i want to do? also, when i go to put the layout code in a scroll box for people to copy, it doesn't stay. it either turns MY profile into that specific layout or (if its in a blog) turns to nothing becuase the blog is reading the commands in the code. im just starting out and i want to learn so badly. any help or tips would be great, even if you can olny answer one of my questions it would help me! thanks!

First off, thank God I found your question, cause I was going through the same exact problem for atleast two weeks!!! Anyway, log in, go to edit profile, click on profile editor, click customize, when everything loads, click CLEAR ALL.

DON'T PRESS SAVE!!!!!!!!!! And there ya go!!! I was oh so happy when it worked!!! I even clapped....lol!!

either find another layout you want and paste the code or just clear the editor so it has nothing in it.
Click the reset button in the Edit profile menu thingy
you go back to the profile editor and click where it says clear all or restart
Click "Edit profile."

Then "Profile editor."

Then "Customize."

Then "Restart."

Then "Save."

That way, this won't overshadow your codes, and the layout code you pasted will start to work.

Go to PROFILE EDITOR
copy and paste the code for the layout in ur 'about me' section
yea copy the code and go to the about me section and go all the way down untill there is only one line at the top then paste and save changes
u go to edit profile, and copy and paste the code in the about me section, and then save it, it should work
you take the code froma website,

copy and paste it into any section in the edit profile page.

and then press save and then preview profile
well you have to type in google something like "free myspace codes" they will then show you what looks like a randow set of numbers and you copy and paste it into any section e.g. About Me and it should work =)
paste the HTML under one of the unused catagories like books or something. http://mygen.co.uk/ has a really good profile editor that will provide you with the html code at the end
step 1: go to a layout site like mygen.co.uk

step 2: choose a layout

step 3: copy the html code for that layout (it will be next to it)

step 4: go to 'edit profile' on myspace (near your display picture)

step 5: paste code in 'about me' section and save.

if you want to add any writing or other html in your about me type it in after your about me code.

The "band member" and "influence" spaces work just as the "about me" spaces do in regular pages. Just paste the codes in either one, and it should work. Good luck!

You can just drag and drop stuff on your profile into the right or left and column.
Haha. That just happened to me too!
You can definitely change your layout! First log into Facebook, then hit the Profile link at the top of the page. Then drag your mouse over the light purplish bar of the application you want to be moved. The cursor should change to one with four different arrows, which indicates you are now free to drag the whole box to the right-side main column, or you can drag it further up/down the left column. You can drag just about any application you want from the left side to the right side (and vice versa), except for some Facebook apps like Friends or the Wall. Have fun! :)

Not often enough. I tend to get comfortable with what I already have, %26amp; when I try to re-design something, it usually effs my page up. I make my own layouts.

The first thing you want to do is to choose your background. I like to go to http://glitter-graphics.com . They have a pretty good selection. Once you choose your background you need to use a layout generator. This is what is going to give you your code. Now if you notice on the glitter-graphics code that they provide for you it is very long. Plus it gives you a bunch of useless stuff that you don't need. This is why I use a generator. Most codes you find will have a bunch of useless stuff tacked onto their codes. What is important in these codes is the image url.

An example is this. Glitter-graphics provides this code:

Once you have loaded the generator you will notice where it says background image and provides you with a box. This is where you will enter the url that you found earlier.

When you click apply you can see a preview of your page on the right side.

This generator also gives you the option of placing a url for the contact box and the extended network banner. My experience with these generators is that they are useless when you apply the code there. So instead ignore that and wait until after you have applied the code for your layout.

In the next tab, selections, you can choose your tables. You can change the color, give them borders, or make them disappear altogether. For some reason the code for making the tables opac does not work- at least that has been my experience with it. So I wouldn't bother with that.

The next tab is for your headings, you can change fonts and all that here.The tab after that is for all of the rest of the text on your page that wasn't covered by the previous tab.

Ok now you have your layout code. All you have to do is push the "Generate Layout" button on the bottom right side of the generator. But with any codes that are premade for you, they like to tack on their own junk. An easy way to tell where the code ends and the junk begins is by noticeing where it says: %26lt;/style%26gt; (This is normally the start %26lt;style%26gt; and this is the end of the code %26lt;/style%26gt;). The junk is normally near the bottem of the code most of the time. So on this code it will give you this on the bottom:

Every little bit of that is junk! So you can go ahead and delete that when you paste it into your profile.

Now you can save your profile! It should give you the layout you wanted.

Remember how I said to ignore the contact box and the extended network. Now is the time you can add those codes to your profile. All you have to do is find the ones you want and then grab the code and place it into your profile. Just make sure to look at the code so you can delete the junk off it. You should be all set. Of course you can keep on finding extra codes and placing them into your profile to further personalize it. You can check out my profile and check it out for yourself, I used the same method and it came out pretty good. Hope that was detailed enough for you.

I know basic html but don't know how to get it back where it belongs...

Look for the following:

Remove that whole section... MAKE SURE the %26lt;img%26gt; tag has the style="position:absolute;top:0px;left:0p... in it.
Its in the custom code you put on your page. Look for the code read in the detail, it is usually near the bottom of the code and will state something like "bold, myspacepimp" or something like that. Delete that section only and the ads will be gone
There will be a code, usually after the code for the actual layout, and it will look something like this:

I had to add some spaces to things and spell out "dot" so that the html wouldn't show up on here...but you can get the idea of what to look for.

The "position:asbolute;left" shows you where the advertisement is pictured on your profile - in this case it is in the upper left by your picture and the home link. That is how you will know it is an ad and not something important - as a general rule, of course there may be exceptions. The "%26lt;a href="url"%26gt;" is the link to the advertisement's site and the text in between that and the "%26lt;/a%26gt;", in this case the "img src=url", is what shows up on your page. If you just delete this little strand of code then your advertisement will not be there anymore and all of your layout or whatever else will still show up. Of course, some places are sneaky and leave two ads so you have to look very carefully in the codes. Have fun. The language of html can be confusing but it is fun when you get it down. Happy myspace-ing! lol.
Don't do that. They make these things for you to use free. The least you could do is give a link back. I agree some of those ads are not attractive, but when you think of all the effort that goes into it. All you do is paste it in there. If you don't want ads, please learn how to make your own graphics and do your own coding.

Copy and paste the code and put it under your "about me" section.
look for edit profile on your myspace home page and click it then paste your layout code into your about me section
You put the layout code in the 'about me' section on myspace, in your profile. Generally, you can put it in any of the boxes on your page while you are editing your page, but it is easier to remember which one it was in if you put it in the first one. Then when you want to change it, you know which one to delete. I will not interfere with anything else that you have in the box as long as you have an empty line seperating it.

well by what you typed here im deducting that youre black...
I make my own layouts for my page...as in coding/graphics. Basically I start with Adobe Photoshop, and make the background I want. There are various brushes I use or effects in Photoshop. A lot I've learned online since 2002, by reading tutorial sites. Once I do the background...then I use that to do the graphics for my contact table or whatever else.

Once I have the graphics made, then I use the coding that I have always used in my layout....usually tweak it here and there for colors or pixels widths, etc.

If you see it in your head...I'm sure you can do it with some practice. Just get Adobe Photoshop...

I have visited several layout sites, but I am unable to figure out how to use the codes and apply them to my own profile. I copy, but when I return to my profile and try to paste, I can no longer paste. I am incapable of understanding how to do this unless someone gives me clear, detailed instructions.

Hey all.

I've decided to make a new myspace layout, and I checked a few sites that help make layout codes, and I decided pimp-my-profile.com was the best. So i've made one, but there's all this advertising stuff that makes my profile look tacky. How do I remove the links and stuff *without* screwing up my profile? I've already tried, but it screwed up my profile, and I had to make a new code.

Ok wel look through and if you see things like 'pimp my profile' and 'myspace layouts' or wateva and it looks like this

MYSPACE LAYOUTS%26lt;a style="color: 035;6600;" you can delete the myspace layout part because it is outside these things %26gt;%26lt; but if it is inside like this

%26lt;blank" title="Get New MySpace Codes"%26gt; then dont delete it because this is part of the layout and if you delete it you can stuff up the layout.

On the coding look where it says pimp-my-profile.com.

If you see it delete it, simple as that
When you copy and paste all the HTML codes, look through them. There will be a lot of things beginning with %26lt;a href=...%26gt;. This indicates a hosted image with a link, which is what the ads will be. The words found on the ad, or the link to the website placing the ad will be found here. Delete it from %26lt; to %26gt;.

it's happened to me before, but it's not because someone hacked into my profile. it's merely because I change my profile too often the HTML codes get messed up.

one way to fix this, of course, check the HTML codes. look if the codes get messed up.

if you don't really understand HTML codes, however, you will have to delete the whole codes and start over.

First, you have to know how to use Corel Paint Shop Pro. Knowing the ins-and-outs of HTML helps out a lot. Once you know how to make a layout using CPSP(you can download a free trial).

Then you can upload you pics to photobucket. And go to any custom layout site maker and plug in your URLs to create the layout.

first off...did u push the save button?
after you copied it and pasted it.make sure u clicked on SAVE CHANGES and the top!
check the rules again or go to the freqently asked questions. i read an article in the newspaper about MySpace getting a lot more security so maybe that has something to do with it.
ONCE U COPY AND PASTE U HAVE TO HIT THE SAVE BUTTON OR IT WON'T WORK GOOD KUCK
U have to make sure u click the "SAVE CHANGES"... I have all the security updates and I can still do my layout the same as I have always done it... So make sure u click that an u should be all good! there aren't any actual buzznet layouts, but you can usually use other layouts, like myspace ones. the colors and background usually work, but you can't allways see the background all the way. but some of the features from myspace layouts don't effect buzznet.

What you do is go to the profile editor at your home page in myspace and once you save the layout that you want it will save to your private profile page. not sure if you have tried the customize your site option on the site. You will see themes and layouts there..am not sure if that is what you are talking abt.
Go to your Profile Edit page. There will be a link that says "Profile Editor" at the top. You will see a Simpsonize thingy with Tom on it. It'll show you how to make your own page.

If you have and use Firefox, it won't work. They'll still working on that.

There, that will place your code in a scrollbox. If you're confused by that, then just delete your account and get off the internet. Stay there.

She has a specific layout for her private profile front page. Yesterday it was pretty in black and pink so she changes it as if it were easy like a regular main page layout.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or have a link to where I could do it? Thanks!

Go to edit profile

Profile editor (wait for it to load)

Under the background tab, you have the options background color, image or border.

If you want a color choose color. If you want an image, click on background image. Put the URL of a pic that you want or you can press the link my photos to use one of your pictures as a background. When u are done press save. U won't see a preview. And of course you will have to log off to see the results!!!!

I just figured it out!!!

But when u change the image, it changes your actual layout image also. And when you click "do not use background image," it takes the background away from your actual layout so yeah, be careful.

u dont need a code... just go to ur home paige then click "account settings" then click "privacy settings" then click under "who sees my profile" click "friends only"
You just have to use the myspace profile editor.... there is no code..just change your background and it will show up even if your page is private..hope this helps..

I got a great overlay layout, just a day b4 friendster updated the profile n my profile update automaticly by itself. I just wanna know weather the codes can still be use? Do I need to change anything? Or, is it unuseful anymore?

okay. i have been using myspace for about 4 years and my myspace has undergone numerous changes.... i use various sites which all do different things... but one that is good to start out with is www.hot-lyts.com.

you can get backgrounds, full premade layouts, comment boxes, DIV layouts, codes, etc...

it is very useful. i consider myself a myspace pro and so if there is ANYTHING, and i mean anything, else you need to know, come to me. =]] i would even be willing to get your whole myspace up and started for you if you wanted me to.

click on the help button at the top left of your screen when you are on myspace. It will walk you through how to do everything. It just takes a couple of minutes to figure it out. Another thing I did was to surf other people's spaces and if I saw something I liked I clicked on it. When you click on a picture it will take you to the website where you can get it.
theres a tonne of different sites to do this through here are some for layouts and some with cool stuff for comments and codes, then as you look at different peoples profiles and you see their pages, there will be links on their page from the places they used to ge their pages looking like that and you can just click the link and go find more new sites

I would just make a separate myspace account for each layout you want to show, and then link to each myspace from your page.

i dont know aye............thats what myspace is for.........it would alright to spriffy up your profile bit but only like different colour themes, myspace is for myspace , besides this is a question engine for people to get their questions answered its not really about the profile.

You will have to explain in more depth what you have done really, have you just copied and pasted the code of your choice into the "about me" section on your profile?

That usually happens when the image you are using as background is too small.

First, sign into Myspace using Internet Explorer (it doesn't work well if Firefox or other browsers). On your home page, click on Profile Editor on the left side, below your photo. Then click on the tab that says customize, then background, Background image. Where says Freeze image when page scrolls, click below to select the repeat options. The repeat option makes the image show in the whole page, but it won't enlarge it. It will only repeat it, and depending on the image, when repeated, it will give you the impression that the image has been enlarged.

PS: Instead of copying the image to your "about me" section, right click on the image on the web, choose "view image", then save it to your hard drive. You can later browse for the picture from the Profile Editor on Myspace. You can even use GIF images and others animated pictures.
